Teaching

Ten years of teaching experience in large research universities and small liberal arts colleges shape my approach to student learning. Courses I lead equip students to critically examine the social world and envision transformative change. Our goal is to build on, complicate, and challenge our existing knowledge through scholarly texts and assignments that engage a diversity of social standpoints. I also mentor and train students throughout the process of conducting their own research. Using sociological data collection and analytical methods, we explore how systems of race, gender, class, sexuality, and more intersect to shape societal structures, cultures, and access to resources.
